PAGINE
Solemn madrigals by Gesualdo Di Venosa, flickering works for keyboard by Domenico Scarlatti, contemporary adaptions of Cole Porter; pages from our rich musical history put together by Italian composer Sciarrino in the work Pagine, now completed with new pages from the 20th and 21st century where dance and music join in a compelling performance by Scarbo, consisting of four saxophonists, and dancer Yuika Hashimoto of the dance company ROSAS.

Avondland
A captivating journey through time and sound, featuring accordionist Sven Van de Voorde. Our program weaves together the meditative stillness of Arvo Pärt’s Fratres, the baroque elegance of François Couperin’s Première leçon de Ténèbres, and the modern dissonance of Georg Friedrich Haas’ Saxophonquartett. From John Dowland’s melancholic Lachrimae Antiqua to Charlie Haden’s soulful Wayfaring Stranger, this performance bridges centuries of music, offering a profound and immersive experience.
Time Unfolded
Composers capture the spirit of their era, offering a window into their inner world.
Rameau and Bach, born just 18 months apart, had contrasting approaches. Rameau favored vibrant, ornamented music focused on opera, while Bach, signing his works Soli Deo Gloria, composed prolifically in both sacred and secular forms.
Similarly, Arvo Pärt and Philip Glass developed distinct minimalist styles. Pärt was inspired by Gregorian chant, while Glass crafted layered, repetitive structures influenced by Indian music.
Frederik Neyrinck, 300 years after Bach, blends past and present, drawing from Renaissance music in his intricate, rhythmic work ...B.S. Unfolded....
